A pioneer in performance, video and installation art, VALIE EXPORT (1940 - 2026), has created one of the most influential bodies of feminist art in the post-war period. Focusing on the politics of the body, and through her radical actions, the artist used her own body as an artistic medium to expose patriarchal structures and social norms. VALIE EXPORT’s critical analysis of these systems, in the context of both media and society, continues to be profoundly relevant to discussions of gender and power of today.
